Elon Musk clarified his stance on cryptocurrency during a political rally in Pennsylvania, showing support for Donald Trump. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said his involvement in crypto is casual, despite ongoing speculation.
At the rally, Musk addressed rumors about his influence on blockchain policy. He stated that his interest in Dogecoin stems from its humor and meme culture. “I make Dogecoin jokes because I like it. It’s funny, it has dogs, and it’s a meme,” Musk shared.
There has also been talk of Musk potentially heading a Department of Governmental Efficiency under a future Trump administration. It could be abbreviated as D.O.G.E. However, Musk downplayed any serious crypto role in government.
His tweets have historically boosted Dogecoin’s market value, causing significant shifts. Since he began posting about the cryptocurrency in 2020, Dogecoin has experienced some serious growth. In the last week alone, it has jumped 23% and reached $0.1493, though it’s still far from its peak of $0.7376.
Musk also added that he hasn’t spoken to Trump about cryptocurrency; which came as a repetition of what he earlier said this year.
